Easter Egg Hunt - Stella

About a month ago, I took Stella to UUMC for their annual Easter breakfast, games and egg hunt.  Unfortunately Lottie wasn't able to attend because she had ice skating lessons.  Stella and I quickly snuck out of the house that morning not telling her where we were going.  She would have been so upset had she known we were going on an egg hunt.

When we got there, Stella ate breakfast and avoided the Easter bunny at all costs!  She would wave and say, "Hi bunny!" from a distance, but any time she got even the slightest bit close, she would scream, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bunny!"  It was hilarious!

After making every attempt to avoid the Easter bunny, all the kiddos gathered in the church to hear a story about the true meaning of Easter.

Soon after, we headed across the street where they held the games and egg hunt!

Stella cheated at every game!  She had everyone cracking up!

Her favorite game was the matching duck game.  She loved the ducks.  She kept trying to put them in her basket to take home!

Unlike the other egg hunt we went on in the mountains, Stella managed to find herself a few eggs.  They were really well hidden!  I think Stella did a better job of finding eggs than I did!  :)

The following day, we broke out the dye and dyed about 18 eggs!  Of course, leave it to Stella to spill the dye everywhere!  That girl is a mess!  Oh and out of the 18 eggs we dyed, I am pretty sure Stella broke, tried to eat, cracked, threw about 6 of them!  :)

Little monster!

Just one of the eggs Stella tried to eat / destroy during the process!

All in all we shared a lot of laughs!

I just love keeping the egg dyeing tradition alive.  I remember as a kid just how much I loved dyeing Easter eggs with my mom.  How I would give anything for her to be here with me and my kids dyeing eggs.  I really miss her!

Lottie's First Easter Egg Hunt

Last Saturday we ventured out in the cold and rain to Union United Methodist Church where they were having an Easter Extravaganza.  I was so hoping that the rain would hold out and the weather was going to warm up a bit, but it didn't and it was COLD!!!!!!!!!!

The kids started off with story time behind the true meaning of Easter.  Afterwards, they all headed outdoors for games, cookie decorating and finally an Easter egg hunt.  They had it roped off for the various age groups and I swear they must have hid 500 eggs.  Everywhere I stepped, there was an egg filled with candy.  This was Lottie's first egg hunt as we were in England last year and that's just not something they really do.

Mrs. Beverly led Lottie through the grass and helped her get the hang of it.  That only took finding a few eggs and Lottie was off.  She loved it.  The eggs were overflowing from her basket.  Afterwards, we cleaned up the eggs and she started devouring candy.  The kid loves candy.  She asked for candy all day long after we left.  She was begging to be given her basket!

We only lasted about an hour outdoors.  It was FREEZING!  Lottie was shivering and it was almost nap time so as you can imagine a melt down was getting ready to go down.

All in all, it was a good time!  Lottie and I are taking a mommy / daughter trip to visit Aunt Amy this weekend as Steve has to work.  I am so looking forward to having this time with her.  I have started feeling a little guilty about how my time is going to be shared between her and Mini Coop #2.  She has no "real" idea how everything is getting ready to change.  So, I plan to take full advantage this weekend.  We are going to walk along the beach picking up shells, dye Easter eggs, hide Easter eggs and just spend some good quality one on one time.  :)

Here are a few photos from Lottie's first egg hunt!

Pick two matching ducks and you win a prize!

Ring toss to win a drink!  Lottie did NOT win us a drink - she's got a wild arm!

Come on Lottie - mama is thirsty!  Still nothing..........

Cookie decorating - guess who ate most of that cookie???????
