That Time My Kid Crawled All Over A Public Bathroom........

A couple of weeks ago we had some major construction going on in our living room and kitchen.  My home is pretty old, so in order for us to get the house on the market, we had to go in and replace all the subflooring in the kitchen and living room.  We knew the living room would be a job that would require us to basically move out for a day or two.  Thankfully Steve had worked the previous Saturday which meant he had the Thursday of the following week off work.  He decided to go ahead and take the Friday off as well and take the girls down to visit my sister.  Unfortunately I had to work!

With that said, the plan was for him to pick up the girls straight from work on Wednesday and head to the beach.  Well..........that plan soon went out the window when he got a call late in the afternoon at work which required him to work late.

I thought - no big deal, I'll just pick up the girls and take them to his work so that he can leave straight from there.  That didn't go so smoothly either.  As soon as I pulled into daycare and walked in the door, I realized that Steve had Stella's car seat.  Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!  Instead of making a scene at daycare about it, I scooped the girls up and we all walked to Bojangles so at least the girls would be fed before they set off on their trip.

It seemed like ages we sat in that Bojangles waiting for Steve to call.  At this point, Lottie started doing her potty dance and declared she needed to go right then!  The three of us walked to the bathroom and well, since Stella is not walking yet and Lottie needed help covering the potty with TP and picking her up to sit, I did the only thing that popped in my head....... I grabbed as many paper towels as I could and covered the handicap bathroom floor with them.  I then sat Stella on top of the paper towels and hoped she wouldn't budge or move or touch the nasty floor until I could get Lottie sorted.

Ha - yeah right, as soon as I sat her down and began to help Lottie, she was off.  Can you picture it, one kid with her pants around her ankles sitting on the potty and me chasing the other one around the bathroom?  I picked Stella up, put her back down on top of the paper towels and what does she do?  She started trying to eat the paper towels off the floor.  I GAGGED!  I really GAGGED!

Stella is sooooooooooooo heavy (I swear she feels heavier than Lottie) and trying to hold her, while picking Lottie up is just no good for this almost 33 year old back!

After I removed the paper towels from her mouth, she was off again, crawling all over that Bojangles bathroom.  Thank goodness no one was in the bathroom.  I can't imagine what they would have thought of me.  This was definitely one of those times where I could have used an extra arm or two.

Finally after Lottie finished using the bathroom, I sterilized Stella in the sink.  I coated her legs, arms, hands, etc. with soap and water.

We finally met up with Dad and the girls set off to the beach around 7:00 p.m.

I was pooped!

Anyone else find it difficult juggling two small kids at times?  I swear with Lottie and her dramatic declarations of independence and Stella with her crying, it's a wonder my hair isn't completely gray and fallen out!
