Our First Incident Report

This week marked the first week I was told that an incident occurred at daycare.  I was told that I would need to sign an incident/injury report before leaving acknowledging what had happened.  My first thoughts were, "Oh gah, what has my child done?"  "Has she hit someone, bit someone, kicked someone?"

As I walked to her classroom to read the report, it was the exact opposite.  As I read over and reviewed the report, I couldn't help but giggle over the way it was written.  It read something like this:

Location of Incident: Classroom

Equipment / Product Involved: Toy Phone

Description of Incident / Injury Specific Body Parts Involved: Left forehead

Description of How Incident / Injury Occurred: Charlotte and a friend were playing, the friend got upset and hit Charlotte.

First Aid or Medical Care Required: Applied Ice

Diagnosis / Follow up Plan: Kept Applying Ice

I don't know about you, but for some reason every time I read this report, I have the Pink Panther music playing in the back of my mind.  Ha!  Try it!

In the end, Lottie was perfectly fine and there was no mark on her head whatsoever.  Kids are going to be kids I suppose and these things are bound to happen.

So, until next time................

Father's Day

Went something like this.....................

Lunch at Cajun Queen

Besides my own Dad, Steve is the best Dad I know.  Lottie has got him so wrapped around her little finger!  Give her a few years and she'll think she can get away with just about anything when it comes to her dad.  Too bad her mama has been there, done that - there will be no pulling the rug over my eyes.  :)

Happy Father's Day Steve!

We love you!

WAXED

Yesterday, I went to get my eye brows waxed at my local nail salon.  My eyebrows are NO joke - they grow at an alarmingly fast pace.  I mean if I don't go every two weeks, they look a mess!

Unfortunately it looks like Lottie has inherited her mama's eyebrows.  I've been taking Lottie with me to the salon ever since she was a baby.  I'd bring her in her carrier and sit her down while I laid back to get waxed.  The cute little Chinese ladies always love on her and speak to her in Chinese and Lottie constantly cracks up and laughs at them.

As Lottie has grown, these ladies are constantly commenting on her eyebrows telling me "we wax her" and "she needs wax like mama" laughing.  Yesterday was no different, in fact, I think they may have grown more since we were last there!

What do you think?

I think they may be right!!!  A uni brow is not acceptable - I am oh too familiar with almost having one of those in my teen years!

HOT MESS

Need I say more????????  I couldn't believe what a hot mess my child looked like yesterday when I picked her up from daycare.  She was wearing an off the shoulder top with a Hello Kitty skirt with red (bright red) bloomers underneath.  Way to go Dad!!  You know, since Steve does the morning routine, I just NEVER know what to expect when I pick her up in the afternoons - it has been more than comical on several occassions!  But he tries, and we love him dearly for it!

16 Months

This week marked Lottie turning 16 months!!!  Here is just a few things that's keeping us on our toes:
  • Little Miss Independent: She absolutely insists on brushing her own hair and teeth.  After her bath at night, I ask, "Where's your hair brush, Let's brush that hair?"  She immediately runs, picks it up and "starts" brushing her hair (really, she just makes a mess of it).  Before bed, I always tell her, "It's time to brush your teeth!"  She starts chomping down on her teeth and runs to the bathroom.  Once there, I either pick her up/hold her or sit her down and start the brushing process.  She's got a total of 10 teeth (2 just came in) so I brush them as best I can and as much as she will allow before she is ripping the brush out of my hand to do it herself.  I basically have a 10 second window to get them brushed the way a dentist would approve.  Once Lottie gets a hold of her toothbrush, she usually just sucks on the bristles and pretends to be brushing.

  • Her newest trick is climbing onto the couch by herself.  You should see her face once she has maneuvered it - priceless!!  She stands tall with her chest puffed out with the biggest grin on her face.  After her proud moment, she usually proceeds to body slam herself against her giant teddy bear or a stack of pillows.  She laughs and laughs, then repeats it over and over again.  While I don't condone jumping on the couch, I can't help but laugh when I hear her laughing hysterically at herself.  Her laugh is the greatest laugh I've ever heard! Truly!

  • Changing Diapers these days goes either one or two ways - PLEASANT (Or as pleasant as can possibly be) or full on INSANE!  As soon as I put her down on the changing table she either lays there nicely, smiling, babbling OR she quickly flips over, squirms out of my reach, stands up, starts laughing like she's pulled one over on me - disaster!!!  Of course every time she does, I end up wrestling to get her back down to which she starts crying/screaming and I have to explain that if she would just lay down from the get go, we would be finished in under 30 seconds.  Hopefully only 8 more months or less in diapers!!!!

  • Lottie has become the biggest copy cat when it comes to things I do!  For instance, every night, I use those make up pad cleansers to clean my face - well now, Lottie has to have one as well.  She starts wiping her face down, rubbing it through her hair, neck, arms, etc.  Then once she's finished, she hands it to me to throw it away.  When it comes to me putting on my make up, she's always right there reaching for a brush to put her "make up" on.  I have a couple of spare brushes that I usually let her play with so in true copy cat form, she takes the brush and sweeps it across her face and dabs into my compact.  Of course she doesn't really dab, but she thinks she does and that is good enough for her.

I wish I could provide an update on her growth, but I can't get the girl's weight to come up on our digital scale at home - she's just too small I guess!  Too bad her mama doesn't have that same problem!  I cringe every time I get on the scale!

Happy 16 Months to my Cheeto loving little peanut!

The Waxhonian Chronicles Turns ONE

This week marks the one year anniversary of the blog!  This post also marks my 100th post!  I feel like I should be receiving some sort of prize!  Well, not really, but who doesn't love a great prize?

I have to say that I've enjoyed keeping track and recording memories of my little family.  It has been a fun process and something I know I will appreciate down the road when Lottie gets older.  It's like our own storybook of memories.

Here's a look back at a few previous posts.............Remember these?

Conversations In The Car (7/26/11)

Tonya: "So, you've not really said anything about my hair / bangs since I got them cut, what do you think?"
Steve: "I don't know - it's fine."
Tonya: "Why is it that every time I ask you a question about what I'm wearing or if I've done something different, you either say it's fine or you don't know?"
Steve: "Because I'm a man and I just don't take notice to all that stuff."
Tonya: "Okay, but just this once can you be completely honest and tell me what you think about my hair."
Steve: "Fine - I think it looks like an 18 year old hair cut."
Tonya: "Excuse me??"
Steve: "Yeah, I think it looks like a kid's hair cut."
Tonya: "OK THEN, pretty sure I'm going to need you to refer back to your old ways and say it's fine."
Steve: "It's fine."

Can You Say Mama? (10/20/11)

No, not quite yet, but don't think I don't ask her everyday if she can say it!

Speaking of first words - take a stab at what Steve's first word was.......................  BEET ROOT

That's right Beet Root????????  How strange and oddly funny is that?  I chuckle every time I think about it.

Speaking of chuckling, I finally took video on my phone and was able to upload it to You Tube.  I guess photos will only show so much especially when it comes to laughing and babbling.

This is Lottie on Tuesday morning before day care.  Turn the volume all the way up!  :)

Meet Me at the Pumpkin Patch (10/26/11)

Friday - last Friday was Pajama Day at day care.  All the infants wore their pajamas including the teachers.  Steve bought Lottie a pair of pumpkin pajamas a couple of weeks back.  Let me just stop and say that Lottie has Steve wrapped around her finger!  Every time he runs out for a quick trip to Target or Marshalls, anywhere - he always comes back with two or three outfits for Lottie.  It is so funny.  But I guess that is the thing with having little girls - EVERYTHING is so darn cute, you can't help it!  He always says, "Well, I couldn't not buy my little girl something."  Steve is going to be in TROUBLE when she gets older.

She was being a little wiggle worm, so couldn't really catch a still picture!

Snuggle time with Dad before bed on Friday night!

On Saturday, Steve spent most of the morning cleaning the garage out (there were so many boxes of diapers, etc. out there)  While he was busy doing that, Lottie I and I went to visit my grandma.  She has a big birthday coming up in November!  95 years old!  I'll never live to see 95!  :)

On Saturday afternoon, we grabbed a late lunch and took Lottie to the pumpkin patch to finally pick up a couple of pumpkins and of course get photos of Lottie!

She was just staring at the hay, not moving an inch!

Late Saturday afternoon, Steve continued to clean the garage and I went through all of Lottie's clothes that she could no longer wear and packed them away.  I swear the girl has more clothes than I do and she is 8 months old!

After a long day, Lottie was bouncing away in her jumper while I was sitting on the couch working on a project.  10 minutes or so went by and I didn't hear a peep so I walked over to see what Lottie was doing and she had passed out in her jumper.  I was dying laughing.  She had her hands over her eyes and was out.  Guess she was SLEEPY!

On Sunday, we tailgated with a few people that Steve used to work with.  Everything was great until the game started.  The stadium was FULL!  I haven't seen the stadium that full since we were in the playoffs a few years back.  The noise level was just too much for Lottie.  It scared her half to death so we left right before half time and came home.  Poor baby.  She did so well at the last game we took her to, but then again, it wasn't near as full as it was this time around.

So looking forward to this weekend!  My sister and brother in law are coming into town to see Lottie!  My sister hasn't seen Lottie since Labor Day Weekend so she is DYING to get back home.

HERE'S TO ANOTHER YEAR OF MAKING MEMORIES!

We Are Ninjas!!!

We Did It!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We completed our first 5K obstacle course!  It was so much fun, but very challenging and HOT!  I can't even describe how HOT it was!  By the time we got out to the course and got to the START line, it was a sweltering 87 degrees!  But with that said, we somehow managed to get through!

Looking back, it was definitely a lot more challenging than I had anticipated but we completed each obstacle with a little bit of teamwork and encouragement that sounded a little something like this, "BEER AT THE END, BEER AT THE END, BEER AT THE END".

Unfortunately my camera decided to flake on me this weekend.  I think my camera ATE my memory card because all of the pictures we took are GONE!!!  After coming to this revelation, I threw a full on Lottie Tantrum!!!!!!!  Should have gotten that on video!  So, with that said, I've got ONE photo documenting our accomplishment - guess that means we will have to do it again next year!  Until then...........
